Obituary for Rosario James Cordo

CORDO, ROSARIO James of Norfolk formerly of Norwood passed away on December 1, 2017 surrounded by his family at the age of 93. Rosario was born on October 29, 1924, emigrating from Italy to the United States, with his parents Natale and Giuditta Cordo, when he was six years old. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the Army, with the rank of corporal, in the South Pacific from 1943 to 1946. He married Maria Viscone in 1955, and settled with his wife and four children in Norwood, MA, pursuing a career as a Power and Plant engineer, graduating from the Peterson School of Engineering in 1969. Rosario was a communicant at St. Catherine of Siena parish in Norwood, and upon his retirement, prepared the church each morning for that day's services. Rosario was also a member of the Norwood Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife, Maria; son Joseph, and his spouse, Teresa; son David, and his spouse, Ellen; daughter Mary Zimmerman, and her spouse, Daniel; daughter Judith Woodall, and her spouse Joseph; eleven grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. Funeral from the Kraw-Kornack Funeral Home 1248 Washington St. Norwood, Tuesday Dec. 5, 2017 at 8am followed by a funeral mass at 9am in St. Catherine of Siena Church Norwood. Visiting hours will be held on Monday Dec. 4, 2017 from 4-8pm. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery Norwood. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his name to St. Catherine of Siena Church 547 Washington St. Norwood, MA 02062.
