James L. Cremins

August 20, 1938 — January 28, 2021

CREMINS, JAMES L. of Norwood passed away from cancer on January 28, 2021 at the age of 82 in his home surrounded by his loving family. Jim, while born in Coventry, England just prior to World War II to the late James and Annie (Heraty) Cremins, was not of England, he was an Irish Man to his bones. Raised on the family farm in Westport, Co. Mayo, Jim loved going up the field with his father and siblings and returned to his homeplace as many times as he could during his life. Jim, the eldest of 8, left his beloved Ireland at 16 moving to England to work in order to help his family. He moved to Boston in 1956 where he met and married his beloved wife of 56 years, Mary Ann (Doran) Cremins. Jim worked as a pressman for what became Universal Press for decades before his retirement. Jim was a devoted family man, community volunteer, and the best teller of "dad jokes" that you could ever meet. He always had a story to tell and a twinkle in his eye. Jim was a beloved father of James G. Cremins and his wife Michelle of Easton and Nancy M. Cremins and her husband Michael Carty of Mansfield and the cherished grandfather of James (Sonny), Rory, Kieran, Aoife and Nora. Jim was a loving brother of Thomas Cremins of Dedham, Peter Cremins, Nancy St. Ledger, Maureen Foley, and John Cremins, all of Ireland, and was preceded in death by his sister Noreen Flynn and Joan Cremins. Jim is also survived by many treasured nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Jim was a member of the Norwood Knights of Columbus and the Irish Cultural Center of Canton. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 4-8pm at the Kraw-Kornack Funeral Home 1248 Washington St. Norwood, MA.
