William P. Melvin, 75, devoted husband of Lindsay Trementozzi and mother-in-law Marcia Trementozzi of Norwood. He was son of the late Berkeley and Lillian Hickey Melvin and brother to the late June Ann Fiore of Hyde Park. He is survived by his brother John (Jack) and his wife Janice of Hyde Park, uncle of Lynn and John Hartford of Foxboro, Elaine and Jason Delaney of Westwood, Rocco Fiore of W. Roxbury, Robin Fiore of Pocasset, John and Carol Melvin of Philidelphia, Robert and Corrinne Melvin and Jana and Bobby McNulty all of Hyde Park. He is also survived by many great nieces and nephews. In 1979 he graduated suma cum laude from Rollins College in Winter Park, FL, while working at the U.S.P.S. He later returned to the U.S.P.S. in Boston and worked as a supervisor until he retired 2001. He was a proud man who stood by his belief. In the Vietnam War he did 2 tours of duty. Bill loved sports so he joined "The Boys of 64" and the "Old Guys Baseball League.". He loved batting balls with them. His love of cars was shared by buying brand new ones of those loved, and even gave money anonymously to people in his community when heard they were struggling. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, February 3, 2022 9-10am at the Kraw-Kornack Funeral Home 1248 Washington St. Norwood, MA 02062. A funeral home service will be held on Thursday, Feb. 3, 2022 at 10am. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Hyde Park, MA. Donations may be made in his name to a Veterans Charity of your choice.
