Obituary for JoAnn (Magrini) Corzilius

CORZILIUS, JoAnn M. most recently of Norwood passed away on October 11, 2018 at the age of 85. Beloved wife of the late Alvin B. Corzilius Jr. Devoted mother of Stephen R. Corzilius and his wife Pauline of NH, Jeffrey J. Corzilius and his wife Karen of Medfield and Daniel W. Corzilius and his wife Patricia of Norwood. Cherished grandmother of Katharine Corzilius. Beloved sister of Janet and Francine. JoAnn was a native of Hershey, PA and a 1955 graduate of Pennsylvania State University where she majored in mathematics and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She was the first professional woman to work at G.F.C.&C., an engineering and consulting firm. She also completed mathematics research at Kansas State College’s graduate school, taught English and history at a private girls’ school, co-published a historical novel, and played piano (including for the Unitarian Children’s Choir in Nashua, NH, her home for over 50 years). JoAnn enjoyed quilting, gardening and was an avid reader. But she was best known for her sincere kindness, love of animals and, above all her devotion to being the best mother she could be to her three boys. She is also survived by her beloved beagle, Walter, who now lives with Stephen. Arrangements by the Kraw-Kornack Funeral Home Norwood, MA. Visiting hours will be held on Monday, October 15, 2018 from 4-7pm at the First Church and Parish of Dedham, 670 High Street Dedham, MA 02026. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to the Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire 545 Rt 101 Bedford, NH 03110.
