HUMSEY, ALBA May (DeChellis) of Norwood, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2026, at the age of 99.

She was the beloved wife of the late John S. Humsey and a devoted mother to Paula Humsey of Norwood, Diane Boynton of North Attleboro and her late husband Donald Jr., Joyce Humsey of Hanover and her late husband Brian MacRae, and Carol (Candy) Malone of Massachusetts. Alba was a cherished grandmother to Jessica and Krista Wojdag who lovingly assisted her over the years. Grandmother as well to Kerri Fournier and her partner Matt, Kevin Boynton and his wife Nanci, Stacy Malone and her husband Al Triangale, and John P. Malone Jr., and she was a proud great-grandmother of four.

Alba was the daughter of the late James and Mary (Capaldo) DeChellis and sister of the late Cafferiro and Paul DeChellis.

A graduate of Walpole High School, Alba was a talented violinist who performed with the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra in her younger years. She was a vibrant presence in her community, known for her love of dancing, socializing, and traveling. Alba loved the casinos, not for the fact of winning money but just for fun. In her later years, she enjoyed her time in St. Petersburg, Florida, where she built lasting friendships through dancing, as well as cruising and exploring new destinations.

Alba's favorite saying was always think of it as an adventure, when unsure about life's challenges.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, June 19, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Norwood, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, PO Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168, or online at www.dana-farber.org.
