Albert V. Antosca: A Life Well Lived (December 22, 1938 - August 9, 2023)
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Albert V. Antosca, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. Born in Boston and raised in Jamaica Plain, Al's life was a remarkable tapestry of family, community, innovation, and adventure.
After graduating from Boston Tech, Al embarked on an illustrious 40-year career at Raytheon. As an electromechanical engineer, he contributed to various Apollo Missions, the Hawk Missile System, and Sea Sparrow Missile System. His work was not only a testament to his brilliance but also a reflection of his dedication to his country. Al served his country in the Army National Guard during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
In 1961, Al married his sweetheart, Catherine Canny, and together they celebrated 62 years of love, companionship, and joy. They raised their four children in Norwood, MA, creating a home filled with warmth and laughter.
Al's passions extended beyond his professional life. He earned two black belts in karate and taught the art to others. He loved fishing, spending time at his lakeside house in Gilmanton Iron Works, NH, and traveling with family to destinations like Ireland, Scotland, Las Vegas, Disney World Florida, Bahamas, Marco Island, and Florida's Keys. Al and Catherine also enjoyed many winters in Port Saint Lucy as snowbirds. In his retirement he took pleasure in woodworking making family heirloom furniture that will be cherished by his family for generations. Al and his wife enjoyed going to casinos where they would only spend what they called "the price of their entertainment", as they are very disciplined.
Al's legacy lives on through his wife, Catherine Canny Antosca, and their four children: Albert J Antosca and his wife Ann Browning Antosca, Carol Antosca and her husband James Stapleton, Joe Antosca and his wife Linda Giuva Antosca and Kathleen Antosca Keady and her husband Barry Keady.
He was a proud grandfather of 13 grandchildren: Albert R Antosca and his wife Kathy, Kerri Ann Antosca and her partner Michael Peterman, Heather Antosca Rice and her husband Cory Rice, Chuck Stellberger and his wife Heather, Andrew Stellberger and his wife Jenn, Tess Stapleton and David Stapleton, Brian Antosca, Joe Antosca, Ivy Antosca, Aislinn Keady, Shayla Keady and Coleman Keady. Al also was Blessed to have four great grandchildren: Emilia Antosca, Luna Peterman, Hailey Donahue and Norah Stellberger.
He is also survived by his sister, Lorraine Antosca, brother Richard Antosca and his wife Patricia, and several cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Preceding him in passing were his parents, Albert A and Angela LaRosa Antosca, and his sister, Marilyn Antosca Molino.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the medical staff, caregivers, and surgeons at Boston Medical Center and Beth Israel Hospital Boston for their compassionate and brilliant care.
Visiting hours will be held at the Kraw-Kornack Funeral Home, 1248 Washington St, Norwood, MA, on Sunday, August 13th from 2-5 pm. A funeral mass will be conducted at St. Catherine of Siena Church on Washington St, Norwood, MA, on Monday, August 14th at 11 am, followed by a Christian Burial at Highland Cemetery on Winter Street in Norwood, MA.
Albert V. Antosca's life was a beautiful journey filled with love, wisdom, and joy. Albert V. Antosca's life was a rugged and beautiful landscape, carved with the values of family, integrity, and love. A man's man, a loving husband, a guiding father, and a cherished grandfather, his memory will stand tall and proud in the hearts of all who knew him. Rest in peace, dear Al. Your legacy lives on.
