Anton J. “Tony” Nikolassy, age 79, a longtime resident of Norwood, passed away in the early morning hours of Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at his home in Norwood. He was the dedicated husband to Sheryl “Sheri” (Soderlind) Nikolassy of Norwood and the late Mary Jean (Paratore) Nikolassy.
Born in New York City, New York, Tony was one of six children born to the late Anton J. and Julia (Schumaker) Nikolassy. He was raised and grew up in Long Island. Tony graduated from Hauppauge High School and furthered his education by obtaining his Bachelor of Science degree from SUNY College of Technology .
A proud and patriotic man, Tony served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.
Taking pride in a job well done, Tony worked as a product safety manager for various manufacturing companies in the area.
In his spare time, Tony had a wide variety of hobbies and interests. He loved to build and construct model trains that he kept in his home. Having the knack of fixing things, he also liked to partake in wood working, stained glass window making and fixing up projects around the house. Tony also had a zest for travelling and took many memorable trips throughout his life.
In addition to his wife, Tony is survived by his cherished daughter: Bethany E. Nikolassy of Waltham; his siblings: Eleanor Fibel and Judith Smith; and, many extended family members and friends.
In addition to his first wife and parents, Tony is preceded in passing by: his brothers: Patrick Reilly, Jim Reilly and John Nikolassy.
Visiting hours will be held on THURSDAY, February 5th from 5:00pm-7:00pm at the Kraw-Kornack Funeral Home, 1248 Washington Street, Norwood.
Tony’s Funeral Service will be held on FRIDAY, February 6th, 2026, at 10:00 am in Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 24 Berwick Street, Norwood.
Tony will be laid to rest privately at a later date.
