Arline M. (Prendergast) Ryan

RYAN, ARLINE M (Prendergast) of Norwood passed away peacefully surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with ALS on February 10, 2024 at the age of 80. Beloved wife of Eric P. Ryan. Devoted mother of Hilary R. McCarthy and her husband Shane of Norwood, Niamh M. Colpitts and her husband Todd of ME, Mark R. Ryan of Norwood, Emma A. Ryan of AZ and the late Sinead H. Green. Only sister of Thomas F. Prendergast of Canada. Cherished grandmother of Jake Ryan, Hailey Ryan, Hunter Colpitts, Abbey Ryan and Kingston Ryan.


Arline grew up in Ennis, Ireland where she met the love of her life and husband of 56 years Eric. They moved to Dublin where they raised a family of five children. Arline was very active in Templeogue Tennis Club where she was ladies captain for several years. Arline, Eric and family moved to the US in 1989. Arline worked in Boston at Shaw data and subsequently Siemens in Walpole. Arline was known for her wonderful cooking and open house, hosting many over the years for every holiday. Arline was a mother to everyone. After retirement Arline became very active in the Norwood Senior Center where she made some wonderful friends in her later years.


A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, February 20,2024 at 10:30am at St. Margaret Mary's Church 845 High Street (RT 109) Westwood, MA. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
