Barbara Ann (Foley) Lavita

LaVita, Barbara Ann (Foley) of Norwood passed away on September 25, 2023 at the age of 90. She was born on July 10, 1933 to Matthew and Bridget (Lee) Foley. She grew up in Dorchester and graduated from Dorchester High School.
She worked in various office jobs in the insurance industry and as a data entry clerk.
Her proudest role was being a mother and grandmother. She lived for her children.
She raised six children but was "Ma LaVita" to many more. Always opened her home to her children's friends growing up and loved to feed them. She will forever be known for her fried chicken and whoopie pies. She never missed a sporting event or school event for her children or grandchildren. She loved bingo and crocheting for the veterans and cancer patients. Always giving.
Survived by her brother Joseph Foley of Quincy and her sister Margie Sykes of Westwood, her children, Joe and Carlene LaVita of Walpole, Michael and Jayne LaVita of Foxboro, Mark LaVita of Attleboro, Donna and Dan McLaughlin of Dedham, Karen LaVita and Bill Hayden of Norwood and Jim LaVita of Norwood. Gram/Bada to Dan and Taylor, Jenna and Victor, Mark, Alicia and Chris, Matthew, Michael, Rocco, Jillian, Brian, Jimmy, Michael and Jonathan. She is also survived by 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and her sisters Mary Geary, Kay Foley and Ann O'Neil.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, September 28, 2023 from 2-6pm at the Kraw-Kornack Funeral Home 1248 Washington St. Norwood, MA. A funeral home service will be held on Thursday at 5:45pm. At the request of the family burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to Ascend Hospice 352 Belmont St. Worcester, MA 01604 or to the Norwood Senior Center 275 Prospect St. Norwood, MA 02062.
