Barbara A. (Walsh) Mandra

July 29, 1938 — October 18, 2019

Mandra, Barbara A. (Walsh), 81, of Norwood passed away unexpectedly at home on Friday, October 18, 2019. She was the wife of the late Joseph F. Mandra. Born in Boston, daughter of the late Elizabeth and Richard Walsh. Cherished Mother to John J. Mandra and companion, Diana L. Carito, of Beverly, Atty. Susan Mandra Thompson and her husband, James, of Dartmouth, and Darlene P. Ray of Franklin. Loving Grandmother of Steven C. Ray and his companion, Allyson Traphagen. She is survived by her dear brother, Robert J. Walsh, and his wife, MaryAnn, of W. Yarmouth and sisters-in-law, Joyce Mack and Joan Mancuso, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins, and of course, her beloved dog, Lili-Ann. Barbara was a dedicated and proud employee of The Boston Marriott Newton Hotel, closing in on her 50th year of employment. She was loved by all and served many dignitaries over the years. She was a true professional and loyal to all who knew her. Her Norwood home was the place for all loving memories. This house, which she shared for many years with her wonderful Mother, often hosted Thanksgiving, Christmas, and countless birthdays. There she would clip and save articles about all kinds of health remedies in case those close to her needed them. It was a safe and loving home. Our precious Mother lived each day for her three children and grandson and was thought of as a surrogate Mom to many others. She treasured her many dear friends, especially Sandy, her best friend of many years. She was more than a Mother, she was our hero, and will be missed beyond what words can explain. She was beautiful inside and out. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2019 from 3-7pm at the Kraw-Kornack Funeral Home 1248 Washington St. Norwood. A funeral home service will be held on Thursday evening 6:30pm. Funeral from the Kraw-Kornack Funeral Home, Friday Oct. 25, 2019 at 8am followed by a funeral procession to leave at 9am with a graveside service at Highland Cemetery, Norwood, MA.
