Barbara T. (Whelton) Francis

FRANCIS, Barbara T. (Whelton) Of Norwood, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2024 at the age of 90.
Barbara was proud of her Quincy roots, lifelong friends, and a graduate of North Quincy High School.
Barbara lived a full life with a sharp sense of humor and generous spirit; a life enriched by over 60 years of marriage to her devoted husband, John, who predeceased her in 2018.
Together, they shared a passion for travel, delighting in adventures great and small — enjoying their home on Lake Winnipesaukee to impromptu beach days at Nantasket and especially their more than one hundred cruises throughout the Caribbean.
Barbara was an active member of St. Catherine of Siena Church in Norwood and past president of Norwood Catholic Woman’s Club. She was a New England sports fan and enjoyed listening to various genres of music. Yet without a doubt her greatest joy was time spent with her family.
Left to honor and love her are her children Donna (Kevin) MacLean of Norwood; Carolyn (Mark) Latham of Phoenix, AZ; Jack (Michele) Francis of Fleming Island, FL; son-in-law, Robert Gorgone, of Franconia, NH; and Pam Pereira who she embraced as one of her own. Barbara was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathleen.
Cherished grandmother of Katelyn (Dan) Gleason, Lindsay (Anthony) Matrumalo, Scott MacLean, Dan Cocce, Jennifer (Jacob) Serino, Andrew, John, and KC Francis, and Krista Latham. Great-grandmother of Theo, Tucker, Graham, Sawyer, and Lyla.
She is also survived by many loving extended family members and dear friends.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the dedicated staff at Benchmark Assisted Living for their compassionate care and support. Barbara will be deeply missed but fondly remembered.
Funeral from the Kraw-Kornack Funeral Home, 1248 Washington St., NORWOOD, Thursday, October 3, 2024 at 9am, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11am at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Norwood. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday morning from 9am-10:30am. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery, Norwood.
