PALLEIKO, Benjamin "Ben" of Newbury, NH and Westborough, MA died peacefully on November 12 at the age of 75, after a decade of actively living with multiple myeloma. The courage and character he showed in dealing with his illness and approaching the end of his life was in keeping with how he always lived, and to the end he provided great comfort to his family rather than asking for any in return. Ben was born in South Norwood to the late Benjamin S. and Genevieve (Domohowski) Palleiko, in a home built by his grandfather, and grew up in Norwood. He earned a BS and MS in Electrical Engineering from Tufts University, and an MBA from Babson College. He was an engineer, both by training and mindset; he was analytic, intellectually curious about everything and solution-oriented. His professional career spanned over 45 years, including 16 years in the MIT Technology Licensing Office from which he retired in 2012. Outside of work, his lifelong passion was for flying and airplanes, and he was both a private pilot and enthusiastic attendee of any event related to aviation. Ben loved adventures of any type and traveled widely around the world on many trips that are fondly remembered by all who accompanied him. Ben was a good and kind man who created a large and loving extended family. He enjoyed 12 wonderful years with his wife Jeanne (Lindholm), with whom he shared many of those travels and also time at their home at Lake Sunapee. He was the proud father of three children by his former wife Mary Anne Palleiko of Scituate: son Ben and his wife Pam of Hopkinton; daughter Susan and her husband Richard Roberts of Roswell, Georgia; and son David and his wife Heather of Millbury. He was the beloved grandfather of Ben, Daniel and Andrew Palleiko; Sarah and Matthew Roberts; and Allison and Christopher Palleiko. Ben was the brother of Virginia and her husband Tom Mullane of Plainville, and had numerous other family members whom he loved and was loved by in return. Ben's life will be celebrated during visiting hours on Wednesday November 16 from 5-8 pm, and a funeral service to be held on Thursday, November 17 at 10 am, both at the Kraw-Kornack funeral home at 1248 Washington Street in South Norwood, next to his first home. He will be interred in the family plot at the Highland Cemetery in Norwood. His family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made in his name to the Annual Fund of the Boston Museum of Science or the Lake Sunapee Protective Association.
