Carol E. (Conley) Fitzgerald

FITZGERALD, Carol E. (Conley), a resident of Dedham, passed away peacefully at home on May 21, 2023, at the age of 79 surrounded by family.
Carol leaves behind her treasured husband, James P. Fitzgerald, and their three children: David J. Fitzgerald and daughter-in-law Ellen J., Christine E. Flaherty and her husband, Brian M., and Elizabeth A. Bond and her husband, Mark A. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Sarah, Julia, and John "Jack" Fitzgerald and Colin and Brendan Flaherty. While mourning her loss, we find solace knowing that Carol has joined her parents, James and Eleanor Conley, her brothers James Conley and Paul Conley, as well as her niece and goddaughter, Deborah LaCroix and her nephew, Peter Conley.
Born in Boston, Carol found a lifelong friend in Linda Ciardi during her time at St. Anne's Parish School. Later, Carol moved to Dedham where she graduated from Dedham High School in 1961, and she had a long-lasting career at Liberty Mutual, forging connections with friends and loved ones.
Known for her boundless love and support, Carol was cherished by all who knew her. Her selflessness knew no bounds as she consistently put others before herself, always ready to lend a helping hand. A trusted confidante, any secret shared with Carol remained securely kept within her compassionate heart. Her kindness and infectious laughter endeared her to many, making her feel like a second mother to those fortunate enough to know her.
For 55 years, Carol was happily married to her beloved husband, James "Fitzy" Fitzgerald. Together, they created cherished memories while camping with their family in New Hampshire and sharing delightful dinners with family and friends. Carol also enjoyed social gatherings at Wampatuck Golf Course and delighted in shopping for those dear to her. However, her true joy was found in the company of her five grandchildren, who brought immense happiness to her life. Additionally, she cherished the bond shared with her siblings and in-laws, Eleanor Pooree and her husband Doug of Rio Vista, CA, John Conley and his wife Alice of Norton, MA, Jane Carpenter of Lunenberg, MA, Christine Conley of Wellesley Hills, MA, and Mary Conley of North Attleboro, MA.
Carol's life was a testament to love, selflessness, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends. Her memory will forever live on in our hearts, a shining example of compassion and warmth.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, May 25th, 2023 from 9am to 11am followed by a funeral home service at the Kraw-Kornack Funeral Home, 1248 Washington Street, Norwood, MA. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Autism Speaks.
