Obituary

Carol Ann Lane, age 84, of Wrentham and a former longtime resident of Naples, Florida, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2026, at All-American Assisted Living in Wrentham, just five years after the passing of her beloved husband, William Francis “Bill” Lane, age 83,who died on April 21, 2021, in Naples, Florida.

Carol was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, the only child of the late William and Anna (Nixon) Fives. She spent much of her youth in Pittsfield with her aunt and uncle, Fred and Celia Crippa, who were deeply influential in her life.

Bill was born in Norwood, Massachusetts, one of nine children of the late Frank and Mildred (Hogardt) Lane. He was raised in Norwood and graduated from Norwood High School with the Class of 1955.

Carol dedicated over 40 years to caring for others as a Registered Nurse working in the IV Department at Norwood Hospital. She earned her nursing degree from St. Vincent Nursing School in Worcester and went on to receive her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Stonehill College. Bill proudly served his country as a radio operator on the USS Taconic in the United States Navy before going on to found Lane Refrigeration in 1976. Through his hard work and commitment to service, he built a respected business that continues today under the leadership of his son.

Together, Carol and Bill shared a life filled with love and adventure. They were avid golfers who enjoyed spending time on the home courses: Needham Golf Club, Stonebridge Country Club in Naples, FL, and Royal Crest Country Club in Walpole. They loved to travel, taking trips across the United States, to the Caribbean, and on river cruises throughout Europe. They also cherished time spent dining out, playing cards, socializing with friends, and, most importantly, gathering with their family.

They are remembered by their children: James Lane of Foxboro; Lisa DuBreuil and her husband Michael of Mansfield; and Laura Francis and her husband Scott of Mansfield. They were proud and devoted grandparents to Joseph and Alexis Lane; Lauren, Mick, and Finn DuBreuil; and Ella, Olivia, Cecilia and Ava Francis. They are also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

In addition to both of their parents, Bill and Carol are preceded in passing by Bill’s siblings: Marjorie Carroll, Virginia Foley, Robert Lane, Judtih Rogers, David Lane, Albert Lane, Linda Chamberlain, and John Lane.
