Obituary

Catherine (Devine) Ostrom, 89 of Norwood passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Sturdy Memorial Hospital.

Born in Norwood on July 3, 1936, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (O’Connor) Devine. Cathy was a graduate of Norwood High School, Class of 1955. She married Raymond Ostrom on June 19, 1966 and they resided in Norwood during their 36 years of marriage.

She was employed in the Norwood area for over 40 years, working for notable companies such as Bird Flooring Company and Steego Auto Parts.

Cathy was an ardent communicant of St. Catherine of Siena Church in Norwood, MA. She was deeply devoted to her Catholic faith and dedicated to a life of prayer and social outreach. She constantly strove to uplift others, sought opportunities to do good, and aimed to create a positive impact. She donated her time by working at the consignment shop in Norwood and spent numerous hours volunteering at the Norwood Ecumenical Food Pantry.

Cathy cherished conversation with others and could always find the sunny side of life. Her steadfast love and devotion formed a solid cornerstone for her family. A vibrant presence at every milestone (from baptisms to weddings), she took immense delight in the happiness of others, her joy radiating from her smiling Irish eyes.

An avid Red Sox fan, she enthusiastically rooted for her team over the years. She was passionate about movies and regularly went to the cinema to catch the latest films. She enjoyed music and televised concerts, and took pride in her Irish culture, especially on St. Patrick’s Day. Her family and friends are profoundly grateful for her long, beautiful life and the lasting, positive impact she made on everyone she met. She will be dearly missed.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Ostrom, and her siblings Mary Donaruma, Margaret Turgeon, Bridget Kramer, John Devine, and Anna Jacobson. She is survived by many nieces and nephews who relish a wealth of fond memories of their “Aunt Cathy”.

Visiting hours will be held on THURSDAY, January 29, 2026 from 9:00am-10:30am at the Kraw Kornack Funeral Home 1248 Washington St. Norwood, MA.

Following the visitation a Funeral Mass will be held 11:00am in St. Catherine of Siena Church, 547 Washington Street, Norwood.
