Cora Teresa (O'Gorman) McGovern, 70, of Walpole, died peacefully on February 9 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Richard J. McGovern for the past 46 years.
Born in Mullingar, Ireland, on June 13, 1952, the daughter of the late Patrick and Elizabeth (D'Arcy) Gorman, Cora, was raised in Ireland and had lived in Walpole since 1973.
Cora had worked in sales for several area stores. The proud proprietor of the Dickens Shopped in downtown Walpole she was affectionately referred to as Sunshine by those that knew her.
She loved to travel, Irish music, dancing, being by the water, and being in the company of her family and dear friends.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Kathleen Foley and her husband Kevin of Franklin, Joseph McGovern and partner Terri Pistorino of Stoughton, Richard McGovern and his wife Suzanne of Canton, and Jessica McGovern and her fiancé Scott Baldwin of Norwood.
She is also survived by her siblings, Stephen Gorman, Sean Gorman, Maria Byrne, Annette Burke, Nuala Gorman, and Stephanie Bray of Ireland, Agnes O'Gorman of Swampscott, and was the sister of the late Frank Gorman.
Cora is also survived by her grandchildren, Sean, Alex, Brooke, Trenton, Nicholas, Abigail, Jace, and many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 15, in Blessed Sacrament Church at 10:30 a.m.
Burial will be private.
Visiting hours will be on Tuesday from 4- 7 p.m. in the Kraw Kornack Funeral Home, 1248 Washington Street, Norwood.
