Edward Maini, 87, of Norwood, passed away January 8 surrounded by love. Ed was the beloved father of Deborah Maini, Karen Maini, Diane Maini and his son-in-law, Allan Gray. He was the devoted life partner of the late Patricia Daigle, his trusted companion for 38 years. Ed cherished being "Papa" for Cam and Zac, whom he loved dearly, as well as their parents, Shannon and Diane and the extended Daigle family. Caring uncle to Linda, Pamela, Lisa and Craig Maini.
Ed graduated from Norwood High and attended Northeastern University, where he earned a degree in civil engineering. He was honored to be a Veteran and said his time spent in Korea and the people he met there impacted his life forever. With great pride and courage, Ed celebrated his 50 years of sobriety in AA where he made many lifelong friends and was an active sponsor and mentor.
Ed enjoyed a fulfilling career as an accomplished salesman, and received many awards and acknowledgements celebrating his success. He rekindled his love of sales in retirement becoming an antiques dealer on Cape Cod.
Ed expressed his creativity in many ways as a passionate and talented gardener, an enthusiastic photographer with a keen eye for the wonder of nature and as an avid reader with passions in astronomy, finance and science.
Known for his quick wit and humor , he appreciated time spent with dear friends, many of whom he knew since childhood. We will miss his charm and charisma, and his desire to make us laugh even in the most challenging circumstances.
Services will be held at a future date.
A celebration of Ed's life will be held when we can gather together safely and enjoy a bowl of Ed's favorite ice cream, while sharing stories that made him such an important part of our lives. Please send your email address to
