Eileen P. Pennacchio "Pat", registered nurse, devoted wife/mother and loyal friend to so many, passed away Monday morning, October 19th after a hard fought battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was 81 years old. Pat was born in Norwood the daughter of Irish immigrants, the late Richard and Mary Burke. She attended Norwood High School and later earned an associates degree in Nursing at Mount Auburn Hospital, Cambridge in 1960.
Pat worked for 25 years at Norwood Hospital in the orthopedic unit. All who knew Pat remember her big heart and strong desire to care for people. She met the love of her life, Rocky, shortly after college and the two of them married in November, 1965. They raised their family in Norfolk where they lived for 37 years. Pat was mother to 3 girls who adored her and 6 grandchildren who will all tell you how much fun Nana was to be around. She was full of life and her energy was contagious. Pat was also an incredibly loyal and trusted friend to so many over the years. She could strike up a conversation with anyone and quickly make them feel like a best friend. Pat loved to be active, always keeping busy after retiring from nursing. She and Rocky were very involved with the Top of the Hill Gang, a ski and sports club for active adults 50 years and over in age. Pat enjoyed many adventures over the years with "the gang".
Beloved wife of 55 years of Rocco A. Pennacchio. Devoted mother of Christine M. Ventura and her husband Salvatore of Burlington, Karen P. Perron and her husband Christopher of Oak Hill, VA and Sandra L. Grace and her husband John of Foxboro. Sister of Richard Burke of Norfolk and the late Maureen Kemp and Eugene Burke. Cherished grandmother of Damian, Emma, Becca, Matthew, Abby and Molly. Daughter of the late Richard and Mary (McSweeney) Burke. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday October 25, 2020 2-5pm at the Kraw-Kornack Funeral Home, 1248 Washington St., Norwood. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, October 26, 2020 11am at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Norwood. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery Norwood, MA.
