Elaine P. (Maffucci) Igoe

February 9, 1946 — September 24, 2025

Norwood

Elaine Patricia (Maffucci) Igoe of Norwood, Massachusetts, died peacefully on September 24, 2025, at home, surrounded by her loved ones.

The past couple of years brought difficult medical challenges for Elaine, but through it all, she never complained and exhibited amazing strength, courage, and good humor.

Born February 9, 1946, to Guy and Helen (Russo) Maffucci, Elaine grew up in Watertown, MA, and graduated from Watertown High School in 1964. She was head cheerleader, captain of the tennis team, and a majorette—famous for twirling a baton of fire. Described by her classmates as “a friend to all,” she was crowned Homecoming Queen her senior year, alongside her future husband, Kevin M. Igoe, who was Homecoming King. After they married, Elaine and Kevin lived in several Massachusetts communities before settling in Norwood, where they raised their four children.

Elaine had a remarkable, decades-long career at Polaroid Corporation, rising from an entry-level position to top buyer—a testament to her work ethic and determination. While working full-time, she even attended Lesley College, all while keeping her family as her top priority.

Affectionately known as “Grammie” to many beyond her own family, Elaine was the heart and soul of every gathering. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures: playing Chinese Checkers and Dominoes, and in recent years, championing a Worldle group chat. She loved cheering on Norwood teams, attending local music and theater productions, sharing a cup of tea, cooking and baking, and, most of all, spending time with those she loved. Elaine had a sharp wit, a compassionate heart, and a deep, unwavering faith—praying the Rosary every night without fail.

As a daughter, wife, mother, Grammie, Mimi, friend, and neighbor, Elaine was in a category all her own. She lived a life of quiet strength and selflessness, always offering support with open arms and a warm smile. She was an amazing listener who made whomever she was with feel special.

Elaine is survived by her loving children: Lisa Igoe; Kimberly Frey and her husband, Larry; Kevin Igoe, Jr. and his wife, Kerry (Fetherston), of Norwood, MA; and Jeffrey Igoe of Boston, MA. She also leaves her beloved husband, Kevin M. Igoe, Sr. of South Dennis, MA; her adoring grandchildren: Jayme, Matt, Timothy, Valeria, Ryan, Erin, Christopher, Jacob, Allison, Jack, Danielle, Thomas, Colleen, and Mark; and her precious great-grandchildren: Alexis, Aiden, Cecilia, Violet, and Aaron. She will be deeply missed by her sister, Frances Joyce; brothers- and sisters-in-law; nieces; nephews; many extended family and friends; and especially her dear friend, Alice Hamill.

She was predeceased by her parents, Helen and Guy Maffucci; her sister, Virginia Kidd, and her husband, Russell; her brother, Vincent Maffucci; and her brother-in-law, Edward Joyce.

In honor of a life well lived—full of love and laughter—we say, “Goodbye for now.”

”LOVE YOU MORE”
