Eleanor Marie "Ellie" (Gregory) Lyons

LYONS, Eleanor M. (Ellie) age 86, beloved mother and sister, passed away peacefully September 6, 2017 in the presence of family and loved ones in Scottsdale, AZ.  A life-long resident of Norwood, MA, Ellie was born 9/3/1931 in Boston to Bertha (Sideropolous) and Arthur Gregory (Gregoriedes). A devoted Catholic, Ellie graduated from Norwood Senior High School in 1949 attending the Henry O. Peabody Vocational School for Girls where she became a Master Seamstress.  After graduation, Eleanor worked as a jewelry buyer for Worths of Boston when she met and married (the late) Joseph L. Lyons of Quincy, MA.   After marriage, she had an unwavering devotion to her two children, Gregory and Tracy while running an alterations business at home and teaching sewing part-time in the evening at the Henry O. Peabody School.   In the mid 80's, she worked as a buyer at the clothing manufacturer, Sam Hootstein & Son, Inc.  of Norwood, MA and later also in Norwood as an administrative assistant at the global information services company Wolters Kluwer where she remained until she retired in 2003. Ellie leaves behind her two loving children, son Gregory J. Lyons of Irving, Texas and daughter, Tracy A. Lyons and son-in-law Thomas K. Donahoe of Scottsdale, AZ.  Ellie also leaves behind her sister (the late) Penelope Santoro (Penny) of Norwood, MA and her brother-in-law Louis Santoro.  She also leaves behind her brother Arthur Gregory of Toluca Lake, CA.   Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to gather on Monday 9/18/17 from 9:00 - 10:30 AM at the Kraw-Kornack Funeral Home 1248 Washington Street Norwood, MA prior to an 11:00 AM Funeral Mass which will be held at Saint Catherine of Siena Parish, Norwood, MA.  Burial will be held at the Highland Cemetery, Norwood, MA.  In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ellie Lyons may be made to: Brigham and Women's Master Clinician Fund c/o Dr. Dale Adler, 1620 Tremont, One Brigham Circle, Suite 03-012N, Boston, MA  02120.
