WENSTROM, ELEANOR M. “Ellie” (Golden) a longtime resident of Norwood passed away on May 12, 2025 at the age of 84. She was the beloved wife of 64 years to William E. Wenstrom Sr.
Ellie is survived by her adoring children: Pastor William E. Wenstrom Jr. of Huntsville, AL, Linda J. DeShiro and her husband John of N. Attleboro, James M. Wenstrom and his wife Nancy of Norwood, Kristopher O. Wenstrom and his wife Sarah of Norfolk and the late Kenneth P. Wenstrom and his wife Deborah of Canton; her cherished grandchildren: Jeffrey DeShiro, Keri DeShiro, Andrew Wenstrom and his wife Alyssa, Abbey Guay and her husband Matthew, Julia Wenstrom, Justin Wenstrom, Nick Wenstrom, Rachel Wenstrom and Marisa Wenstrom; her precious great grandchildren: Andrew Wenstrom Jr, Ava Wenstrom and Matthew Guay Jr.
Ellie was the youngest of 9 children born to the late Charles and Mary (Burke) Golden. She is the sister of the late Margaret Fournier and her husband Francis, Dorothy Murphy and her husband David, Joseph Golden, Marie DeMayo and her husband Anthony, Charles Golden, William Golden and his wife Elizabeth, Thomas Golden and his wife Helen and Harold Golden. She was the sister-in-law of the late Nancy Wenstrom. Ellie is also survived by sisters-in-law, Alice Wenstrom, Sophie Golden and Jean Golden and dozens of nieces and nephews.
She was a graduate of Norwood High School, Class of 1958. She worked as an administrative assistant at Raytheon for 10 years and receptionist for orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Joseph Sirois, for 0ver 25 years.
Being from a large family, Ellie was happiest when she was with her family and friends. Holidays were special to Ellie as it provided her an opportunity to entertain and cook dinners for her large extended family. She loved the family singalongs at Christmas and while she never participated, she made every effort to get everyone else to sing. She treasured a 50th wedding anniversary trip to Maine where 23 family members were under one roof for a week - she cherished the chaos. Mimi, as she was known to her grandchildren, showered them with love and patience. She loved watching her grandchildren grow up and would selflessly volunteer to babysit or even dog-sit. She loved and was loved by her son in law and daughters in law.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 from 9am -10:30am at the Kraw Kornack Funeral Home 1248 Washington St. Norwood, MA. A funeral mass will follow the visitation on Tuesday May 20, 2025 11am at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Norwood, MA. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery, Norwood, MA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
