SULLIVAN, ELIZABETH J. "Betty" (McGrail) of Norwood and Manomet passed away
on April 10, 2021 at the age of 85, surrounded by her loving husband and
children. Beloved wife of Dr. Thomas M. Sullivan. Devoted mother of Mary E.
Brazel and her husband Michael of Boxford, Sean J. Sullivan of Bristol, VT,
Elizabeth "Betsy" Cox and her husband Ralph of Newbury, Thomas J. Sullivan
and his wife Kate of Foxboro, and Michael J. Sullivan of Boston. Betty was
predeceased by her infant son Joseph. Sister of John McGrail of Mansfield
and Ann Rogers of Walpole. Daughter of the late Michael J. and Elizabeth M.
(Healy) McGrail. Also survived by 9 grandchildren, Megan, Maura, Hannah,
Brendan, Molly, Aidan, Brian, Delia and Dylan, one great grandchild, Maeve
Rose, and many nieces and nephews.
Betty was born in Dorchester, raised in Neponset and Milton, and met many
of her life-long friends through the CYO and Mount St. Joseph Academy.
After high school Betty was employed as a legal secretary at a firm in
Boston, where she discovered her passion for fashion in the surrounding shops.
In 1954 a "great team" was forged when she met her lifelong partner at the
Adams Theatre in Dorchester.
Betty had a strong faith and attended Mass daily at St. Catherine's, where
she was a co-founder of the Road to Calvary Prayer Group. She was an active
volunteer in her Parish and town, was known to give selflessly to others,
and advocated for the sanctity of life. Her bright smile and twinkling eyes
lit up a room. Betty and Tom loved to travel and looked forward to their
annual winter trips to Florida. But most dear to their hearts were summer
days spent with family and friends in Manomet. The countless happy memories
created in this special place will forever be part of Betty's legacy to her
children.
