Ellen J. (Carlson) Carver, of Norwood, passed away on August 11, 2024 at New Pond Village in Walpole. She was 83.
Ellen is survived by her beloved sons Robert G. Carver, Jr. and his wife, Linda, of Narragansett, RI and Douglas Carver, of Norwood, her cherished granddaughters, Samantha and Catherine Carver, her sisters Elizabeth Carlson of Portland, OR and Janet Manley of Norwood, her brothers David Carlson and his wife, Mary, and Russell Carlson and his wife, Lorna, both of Wrentham and her sister-in-law Diane Bogan Carlson of Rochester, NY. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and extended family. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert G. Carver, her brother Richard Carlson and her twin sister, Edith Stanley, with whom she shared a very special relationship.
The daughter of Arnold and Felicya (Block) Carlson, Ellen was born, raised and educated in Norwood, where she was a lifelong resident.
She was employed by American Express as a travel agent in Boston for over 30 years.
A devout Catholic and communicant of St. Catherine of Siena Parish, where she also served as an Extraordinary Minister.
Ellen was an extremely active woman who could be found swimming at the Westwood High School pool frequently and had spent years teaching swimming and aquarobics at the Needham YMCA. She had a great love for travel and enjoyed many cruises, as well as visits to many countries throughout the world and many yearly trips to Walt Disney World. She enjoyed playing cards and board games late into the night and loved sharing her many baked goods, especially her famous whoopie pies and strawberry shortcakes. She loved animals and cared for her dogs Barney, Buddy and Peanut with love.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Ellen’s life at 11am on Friday, August 30th at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Washington Street, Norwood. Visitation will be held at Kraw-Kornack Funeral Home 1248 Washington Street Norwood prior to Mass from 9am-10:30am. Interment will be held at the Highland Cemetery in Norwood.
