Flora
Buonora
January 4, 1938 – April 23, 2026
Flora (Vertullo) Buonora, age 88, of Wrentham, and a former longtime resident of Norwood, passed away peacefully on the morning of Thursday, April 23, 2026 at All-American Assisted Living in Wrentham. She was the beloved wife of the late Vincenzo Buonora, who passed away on May 5, 2009.
Born in Salerno, Italy, Flora was one of six children born to the late Giovanni and Antoinette (Malzone) Vertullo. She was raised and educated in Italy. In pursuit of the American Dream, Flora immigrated to the United States with her father at the age of 16, settling in Norwood. During her early years in America, she lovingly wrote letters to her future husband, Vincenzo, who remained in Italy.
At the age of 21, Flora returned to Italy with her wedding dress in hand to marry the love of her life. Following their wedding, she traveled back to the United States on her own, preparing everything in anticipation of her husband’s arrival.
A woman with a keen eye for detail and a remarkable talent for creativity, Flora worked for many years as a seamstress in the garment and curtain industry. She could sew anything and created countless beautiful garments for her family, as well as elegant curtains and interior décor for her home.
Outside of work, Flora found joy in cooking wonderful meals for those she loved, tending to her garden, and planting beautiful flowers. She enjoyed dancing to her favorite music and looked forward to her trips to the casino. Above all, Flora cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great‑grandchildren, who were truly the apples of her eye.
Flora is survived by her proud and devoted children: Isabella Lord and her husband Edward of Florida; Maria Capobianco and her husband Michael of Wrentham; Vincent Buonora and his wife Penni of Mansfield; and Peter Buonora of Shrewsbury. She was a loving “Nonni” and “Nonnina” to her twelve grandchildren and six great‑grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by her siblings, Pasquale Vertullo of Medway and Gilda Radosta, as well as by her many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
In addition to her beloved husband and parents, Flora was predeceased by her siblings Anthony Vertullo, Velia Caviasca, and Maria Deluca.
Visiting hours will be held on SUNDAY, April 26, from 1:00pm-4:00pm in the Kraw-Kornack Funeral Home, 1248 Washington Street, Norwood.
Flora's Funeral Mass will be celebrated on MONDAY, April 27, 2026, at 11:00am in St. Catherine of Siena Parish, 547 Washington Street, Norwood. Please go directly to church, there will be no procession from the funeral home.
Flora will be laid to rest with her late husband, Vincenzo, in Highland Cemetery, Norwood.
