Francine M. Fitzgerald

Francine Marie Fitzgerald, 81, passed away peacefully at her home in Norwood, MA, July 30,
2023 surrounded by loving family after a long battle with breast cancer.


Born in the Bronx, NY on April 20, 1942, Francine is lovingly survived by her children Thomas
(Kara) Rizzo of Palm City FL, Steve (Peggy) Rizzo of Conifer CO, Peggy (Curtis) Schmidt of
Prescott AZ and Christine Ramos of Searcy AR, brothers Lawrence (Carey) Fitzgerald of
Prospect CT and Edward Fitzgerald of Searcy AR, grandchildren Jessica Garcia-Rizzo, Kathryn
Rizzo, Mitchell Garcia, Zachary Rizzo, Nichole Jordan, John McInally, Julie Schmidt, Sierra
Rizzo, Keller Charles Rizzo and Angelique Fitzgerald, great grandchildren Kaidyn, Rhys and
Myles Jordan. Francine was pre-deceased by parents Francis and Mary Fitzgerald and brother
Frederick Schwab. Fran is also survived by several nieces and nephews.


Francine gave the gift of love and friendship to all that knew her. Francine was very passionate
about her sports, especially anything soccer-related or with the NY Yankees. Her career path
was very diverse based on where she called home and included serving as the Founder,
President and Treasurer of the Washingtonville NY Soccer League, Around-the-Hub columnist
and editor for the Orange County Post, Project Manager for Unidynamics in AZ, Administrator at
The Adoption Agency in Cambridge MA, Owner and Operator of Main Street Candy and Gifts in
TN, District Hotel Manager for Huntingdon TN Heritage Inn, Resident Manager for the Good
Samaritan Village Archdiocese of Memphis Tennessee, Independent Xango Distributor (US),
Tax Specialist (TN, DE and MA) and Unit Controller for Aramark at University of Delaware and
Lemuel Shattuck Hospital in Jamaica Plain MA.


Francine loved residing in Norwood, MA and was very active in the community as a Town
Meeting Member, Democratic Town Committee, League of Women Voters and with the Norwood
Senior Center.


In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to The Norwood Senior Center,
275 Prospect Street, Norwood MA 02062.


There will be a Mass held in Francine's honor at St. Timothy Catholic Church in Norwood, MA
on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at 10am. Interment at Highland Cemetery will follow.
