Francis P. Mcdermott

McDermott, Francis P., (Frank) passed away on April 1, 2025. He was born in Worcester, MA on Dec 3, 1932. Son of the late Nathan and Mary Kobis McDermott. He graduated from Hudson High School in 1950 after which he served in the US Army during the Korean conflict. In 1957 he married Helen Soukaras of West Roxbury and they raised two sons, Michael and Joseph. He graduated in 1962 with a BS degree in Engineering Management. He worked in Quality Assurance Engineering and Management for GTE Sylvania, Exide Electronics, Itek corporation and Dynamics Research Corporation. He was divorced in 1978 and married Joan Seekins Golden in 1986. He then completed post graduate work in financial planning at Boston University and in Computer Science at Northeastern University.
Mr. McDermott was active in volunteer programs, having volunteered for the Norfolk Mental Health Association; Pulse inc., the Norwood Drug abuse hotline and the Norwood Senior Center where he was a member of the COA Board of Directors and was also a computer instructor there for many years. In January 2010 he founded the Computer Club at the Norwood Senior Center. He volunteered for 15 years with Hessco Inc in the Friendly Visitor and Nursing Home Ombudsman Programs.
He is survived by his son Michael and wife Lissa of Plymouth and his son Joseph and his wife Anne also of Plymouth, his wife Joan Seekins-Golden, one sister Mary Daniels of Hudson, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A wake will be held on Tuesday April 8, 2025 at Kraw-Kornack funeral home, 1248 Washington Street, Norwood, between the hours of five and eight PM. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, April 9th at St. Timothys Church between the hours of 10:30 and 11:30 AM followed by burial and military honors at St Michaels cemetery in Hudson Mass. At 1:00 PM.
