Frank T. Anastasi, of Norwood, passed away Monday, September 2, 2024, He was 101.
Frank is survived by his loving sisters Irene Luppi of Dedham and Virginia LeGrow of Houston, TX as well as his many dear nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and extended family.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife Ann M (Moscone) Anastasi, his parents Joseph and Mary (Fata) Anastasi, dear sisters Dominica "Mamie" Spada, Anna Savary and Louise Dickens and brother Dominic “Mickey” Anastasia.
Originally from Dedham, he had been a resident of Norwood since 1959.
Frank was a decorated veteran of WW II serving in the Navy as a Pharmacist's Mate Second Class and was later transferred to active combat in the Marines as a member of their Hospital Corps. He was a member of both the American Legion Post in Dedham and Disabled American Veterans Chapter of Norwood.
For over 30 years, he was longtime owner and operator of the Needham Sporting Goods store in Needham Center, a true sportsman at heart, he was an avid golfer, bowler and bocci player earning himself many championships throughout his life.
A member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Lodge 1124, Norwood, he had been voted "Elk of the Year" in 1996.
Frank was a devout Catholic and communicant of Saint Catherine of Siena Parish and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 252, Norwood.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of his life at 10AM on Saturday, September 7th at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Washington Street, Norwood. Visitation will be held at the Kraw-Kornack Funeral Home 1248 Washington St. Norwood, Friday from 4-6 PM. Interment will be held at the Highland Cemetery in Norwood.
