Gordon Bradbury Reddick, a resident of Colchester, Connecticut, passed away at age 74 on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at Backus Hospital in Norwich.

Gordon was the devoted husband of Denise (McAllister) Reddick, with whom he celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in June. He was the loving father of Kelly Reddick and her companion Frank Ellsworth, and John and his wife Sheena Reddick. He is survived by his grandchildren Aubrey and Lexie Theriault, and Jason and Arthur Reddick. He leaves his sisters Constance and her late husband Bernard Cooper, and Patricia and her late husband Thomas Burns, and brothers Kenneth and his wife Deborah Reddick, and Donald and his wife Therese Reddick.

Born in Norwood on April 5, 1952, Gordon was raised on Crestwood Circle by the late Ruth (Jenness) Reddick and John Reddick. In his youth he was a paperboy, an ardent model ship builder, and participated in Tom Clifford’s hockey program. At Norwood High School he lettered in soccer and played the clarinet in the school band before graduating in 1970. After his graduation from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1974, he joined the Coast Guard where he rose to the rank of Lieutenant Commander. After his Coast Guard career, Gordon worked as a prison guard before becoming Head Librarian for the State of Connecticut’s Library for the Blind in Hartford.

Anyone who knew Gordy quickly learned he had a great love of American history, which led to his participation in Civil War reenactments. He was an avid reader, loved pasta, and enjoyed camping and boating on Curlew Pond in Plymouth. He enjoyed reminiscing about his favorite Coast Guard deployment in Italy, caring for his beloved dogs, and boasting to his brothers that it was only he who was ever paid for playing hockey, when he accepted ten dollars for an amateur game in Montreal.

Gordy was the kindest man we ever knew, and we shall miss him dearly.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, August 3, 2026, from 4-7 pm at Kraw-Kornack Funeral Home, 1248 Washington Street, Norwood, MA.

A Funeral Service will be celebrated at 11 am on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at the First Congregational Church of Norwood, 100 Winter Street.

Internment will be at Highland Cemetery, in Norwood.
