James V. Barrett

BARRETT, JAMES V. of Walpole and Falmouth formerly of Norwood, Dedham and Roslindale passed away on April 16, 2017 at the age of 70. Beloved husband of Joanne A. (Alighieri) Barrett. Devoted father of Lori A. Swanton and her husband William of Brockton, Lisa M. Gaulin and her husband Michael of Bourne and James V. Barrett Jr. of Providence, RI. Cherished grandfather of Shane Swanton, Sara Swanton and Carter "CJ" Gaulin. Brother of the late John "Jack" Barrett and Richard Barrett. Son of the late John Barrett Sr. and Ellen (Sheehan) Barrett.  Also survived by many nieces and nephews. James was a member of the Norwood Elks. Jim Loved to travel and spent many winters in Florida. He was an avid golfer and member of the "Backspinners" (BGA ). He was a member of The Honorable Order of the Blue Goose Association and a member of the Adjuster's round Table of Boston.  He was past president and member of the National Institute of Disaster Restoration (NIFR) 1977-1978, a member of the Association of Specialist in Cleaning and Restoration (ASCR ).  A Certified Restorer (CR #02) , he was very proud of being one of the 1st to receive this certification in 1980. He was also a member of the New England Institute of Restoration and Cleaning (NEIRC).  Jim was a happy go lucky Irishman and always smiling. Funeral from the Kraw-Kornack Funeral Home 1248 Washington St. NORWOOD, Saturday April 22, 2017 at 8am followed by a funeral mass at 9am in St. Mary's Church E. Walpole, MA. Visiting hours will be held on Friday April 21, 2017 from 4-8pm. At the request of the family burial will be private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his name to the Wounded Warrior Project PO Box 758517 Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
