James J. Hansen

October 26, 1939 — March 30, 2024

HANSEN, JAMES Joseph of Norwood passed away on March 30, 2024 at the age of 84. Beloved husband of Ellen (Corbett) Hansen. Devoted father of Kelly A. Needham and her husband Francis of Walpole, Karen M. Carroll and her husband Thomas of Stoneham and James M. Hansen of Norwood. Brother of Claire Gibbons of Littleton and the late William A. Hansen, Betty Hansen and Joan Howard. Cherished grandfather of Jack Hansen and Jessica Hansen who they fondly called Popsie. Jim was a graduate of Charlestown High School. Jim was a USMC Veteran and was stationed at the Marine Corp Barracks located at 8th & I Street, Washington DC as a Honorary Member of the Drill Team. While stationed in DC, Jim had the honor of accompanying Former President Eisenhower on several trips to Camp David. He was also a 37 year employee for Boston Edison and retired as a customer service designer. Once he retired he had more time to play golf with his wife and friends.

He also enjoyed family vacations, whether that was camping in New Hampshire and Maine in a tent or summering at the family cottage in Dennisport. Jim also thoroughly enjoyed supporting his grandchildren in all their activities. He was a loyal Boston sports fan and also enjoyed Cape Cod Baseball.

Funeral from the Kraw-Kornack Funeral Home 1248 Washington St. Norwood, Saturday April 6, 2024 at 8:30am followed by a funeral mass at 11am at St. Denis Church, Westwood, MA. Visiting hours will be held on Saturday morning from 8:30am-10:30am prior to the funeral mass. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury, MA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his name to the Wounded Warrior P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516 www.woundedwarriorproject.org/donate
