LaVita, James Patrick of Norwood, formerly of Dedham passed away suddenly on July 20, 2026 at the age of 59. Beloved son of the late Barbara Ann (Foley) LaVita and Joseph M. LaVita Sr. Jimmy was known as an ox with the biggest heart. He loved his New England Sports teams especially the Patriots. He was actively involved in supporting Veterans often volunteering to place flags at the grave sites of his fellow veterans. He leaves behind his faithful companion Tyson. Loving brother of Joseph M. LaVita Jr. and his wife Carlene of Walpole, Michael A. LaVita and his wife Jayne of Foxboro, Mark S. LaVita of Attleboro, Donna M. McLaughlin and her husband Dan of Dedham and Karen A. LaVita and her husband Bill Hayden of Norwood/Plymouth. Jimmy is also survived by his Godsons/Nephews Mark Jr. and Michael Jr. and his nieces and nephews Danny and Taylor, Jenna and Victor, Ali and Chris, Michael and Alyssa, Matthew, Jillian, Rocco, Brian and Jonathan along with his great nieces and great nephews. He also leaves behind his Uncle Joe Foley of Quincy and many cousins. Visiting hours will be held on Monday July 27, 2026 from 3-6pm at the Kraw Kornack Funeral Home 1248 Washington Street Norwood, MA 02062. A funeral home service will be held on Monday 5:45pm. Burial will be held at a later date at the MA National Cemetery, Bourne, MA. James was a USAF veteran serving from 1985-1988. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the VA Medical Center 1400 VFW Pkwy, West Roxbury, MA 02132.
