MORRISSEY, JAMES F. of Norwood and Dennis passed away on April 29, 2021 at the age of 87. Beloved husband of Joan M. (Cusick) Morrissey. Devoted father of Martin Morrissey and his wife Cathy of Westford, Suzanne Phalan and her husband Robert of WA, Elizabeth A. Morrissey of Portland, ME, Robert F. Morrissey of Dennis, and the late Michael -Morrissey. Brother of the late Helen Haley and Adelaide Morrissey. Cherished grandfather of Keenan J. Phalan. Son of the late Martin A. and Adelaide R. (Burke) Morrissey. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Born and raised in West Roxbury, a Boston Latin School graduate, James went on to received his electrical engineering degree from the University of Massachusetts 56'. A career as a geophysicist for the Air Force took him around the world, but he always insisted he lived in the best place of all. His lifelong love for Cape Cod and Bayview Beach, "Jim's Beach", in particular, brought him true joy. An appreciation of nature, science, and art, combined with a scientific mind, and a keen sense of humor, made Jim a dear friend to many. He loved his family above all else, the beach, skiing, sports, museums, all things fun and interesting, were on his family schedule. Jim was the one everyone turned to, he took especially good care of his elderly relatives, and cherished his family, always thinking of others before himself. In the face of setbacks, he would lend the comforting words, 'this is not the end of the world', followed by 'upward and onward'.
