Jane Elizabeth (Eckhardt) Purpura

Jane E. (Eckhardt) Purpura, lifelong resident of Norwood, passed away on March 24, 2025. She was 91 years old.

Born and raised in Norwood, Jane was a member of the Norwood Senior High School class of 1952. She loved playing games and was very competitive when it came to her board games. She spent a lot of time with her cousins and extended family. Known for her fiery red hair, Jane was a fantastic cook and baker, and everything she made was delicious. She enjoyed parties and was a constant at her grandchildren's activities. Above all else, Jane was happiest surrounded by her family, especially her grand and great-grandchildren.

Jane was the dear and devoted wife of the late Salvatore Purpura. Loving mother of Donna Charron of Mansfield and her late husband Steven, Patricia Welch and her husband Kevin of Wareham, James Purpura of Franklin, and Paul Purpura of Astoria, OR. Cherished grandmother, "Nana," of Sarah, Katie, Eric, Brenda, Marcy, Nichole, Nathan, Nya, and Tiffany, and great-grandmother of 7. Dear sister of Carl Eckhardt, Ann Lawyer, Paul Eckhardt, John Eckhardt and Helen "Ellie" Gallant. Beloved daughter of the late Winfelt and Helen (McCauliffe). Dear sister-in-law of Henry Gallant, Carolyn Eckhardt, Carol Eckhardt and Augustino Purpura. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and her longtime companion Frank Dipietro.

Jane's Funeral mass will be held on Friday March 28, 2025 at 11 a.m. at St. Timothy's Church in Norwood. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.

Jane will be laid to rest with her beloved Salvatore at Highland Cemetery in Norwood.
