Janice M. Mahoney

MAHONEY, Janice M. a long-time resident of Norwood and most recently of Westwood, passed away peacefully on January 5th at Brigham & Women's Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Daughter of the late James Mahoney and Ethel (Johnson), sister of Alice Benkley of Lexington, the late Robert McDonough of Georgetown, Texas, the late Ethel Donovan of Norwood, James Mahoney of Norwood, Mary Newman of Norton and Karen Sullivan of Foxboro. Janice is survived by several cherished nieces and nephews. Janice graduated from Norwood High School in 1971 and earned an Associate's Degree from MassBay Community College. She worked as an investigator for the Secretary of State Securities Division before working at several Boston law firms and ultimately starting her own business. Janice will be remembered as a kind and generous soul. Her devotion to her family, especially her mother, was unparalleled and a testament to her kindness. An artist at heart, Janice had a unique gift for nurturing the creativity and imaginations of her nieces and nephews. Janice saw lasting beauty in nature and was never happier than when she was enjoying the outdoors, preferably with her beloved dog, Chip. Janice's love was vibrant and unconditional and will live on in all who were touched by her generous spirit. A Funeral mass will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2023 11am at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 547 Washington St. Norwood, MA. 02062. Family will greet relatives and friends from 10:15-10:55am at the main entrance of St Catherine of Siena Church. Burial will follow the mass at Highland Cemetery, Norwood, MA.
