Obituary

Jean Elizabeth Brissette, age 90, a longtime resident of Norfolk, MA passed away surrounded by the love, comfort, and care of family on the morning of Monday, June 15, 2026.

Born in Norwood, Jean was the daughter of the late Arthur Brissette, Jr. and Edna (Mattingly) Brissette. She was raised and grew up in Norwood with her 3 brothers (Arthur, Robert, John) attending Norwood High School with the Class of 1954.

Being a trailblazing woman ahead of her time, Jean achieved a real estate brokers license and completed training as a practical nurse and also designed her home which she lived in for over 50 years. Jean knew from the time she was 12 years old that she wanted to fly on airplanes. She pursued that dream with great ambition and worked as a Flight Attendant for Delta Airlines for over 40 years.

Jean was known for her over the top hospitality and care to all she served. The friendships she formed at Delta spanned many decades as she traveled around the world. She regularly took long road trips in her trusted Saturn, often driving a thousand miles at a time to see her relatives in Illinois or her friend in Georgia. When she discovered that her mother had had 10 younger half siblings, Jean made faithful yearly road trips to the family reunion in Kentucky for over 3 decades to meet with that wonderful branch of the family. Jean had many interests besides traveling including crafting and running her own dollhouse miniature business.

She collected all kinds of memorabilia and collectibles and enjoyed displaying them in her home. When she enthusiastically took photos at family events or friend outings, she would create beautiful photo books to give out to those who were there with her. Jean was integral in inspiring family and friends to gather to celebrate holidays and birthdays or just any day as a reason to get together. She often coordinated and hosted family and friend gatherings as long as her family can remember. She was very generous and always had time for people.

Everyone who knew Jean knows that she had many gifts and talents. Perhaps her greatest gift was a remarkable ability to notice people, care for people, and make them feel welcomed. That was most evident in the way she relentlessly and consistently loved her family. Family and friends agree that she made us feel special and loved us like a mother.

“Auntie” Jean will be greatly missed by many people including 5 nephews: Darrell Brissette, Aaron Brissette (Lisa), Jeffrey Brissette, Derrick Brissette (Ashley), Brian Brissette; 2 nieces: Barrie Nolte (David), Jamie Sonnenberg (Tim); 3 grand nephews: Christopher Brissette (Bethany), Joshua Sonnenberg, Jacob Sonnenberg; 3 grandnieces: Shantal Brissette (David), Victoria Faith Sonnenberg, Charlotte Brissette and 1 great grand nephew, William Brissette. She is survived by her aunt Dorothy “Dottie” Lawson (Lonnie) of Webster, Kentucky. She also has left many lifelong friends (as well as children and grandchildren of friends) who will miss her dearly.

Visiting hours will be on Monday June 29, 2026 from 10:00a.m.-11:30a.m. in the Kraw-Kornack Funeral Home 1248 Washington St. Norwood, MA. A Funeral Service will be held following the visitation at 11:30a.m. in the funeral home. After the service, Jean will be laid to rest in Terrace Hill Cemetery in Walpole. All are welcome to attend.
