Joan T. (Souza) Driscoll of Norwood, passed away on March 20, 2025. She was 90 years old.
Born in Boston, Joan grew up in Boston and was a graduate of Jeremiah Burke High School. She made life-long friends in Dorchester and moved to Norwood with the love of her life, John, in 1965, citing the Norwood Theatre and the Norwood Hospital as selling points for their relocation. She was a woman of great faith and was a daily communicant at St. Catherine of Siena Church. Joan was an avid cook and her Portuguese sweet bread was her family's favorite.
Joan enjoyed crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles and was very competitive in playing her games, often responding "Are you feeling lucky?" when asked by family members if she would like to join them in a game of cribbage. Her family, both immediate and extended, was the most important thing in her life and she never missed her grandchildren's games, recitals, school events, art shows, etc. Her grandchildren grew up and returned that gesture, often visiting her regularly. Joan's favorite days were the holidays spent at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Just this past Christmas, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren filled the house to celebrate, and she sat back and looked around at everyone and said, "This is heaven."
Joan was the dear and devoted wife of the late John T. Driscoll. Loving mother of Michael Driscoll and his wife Claire of East Bridgewater, Theresa Montesano and her husband Steven of Foxboro, Daniel Driscoll and his wife Wendy of Walpole, Joan Marie Driscoll of Norwood, Diane Hampston and her husband Charlie of Easton, John Driscoll and his wife Mary Kay of Medway, Christine Freeman of Easton, Mark Driscoll and his wife Lauri of Canton and Chatherine Tetreault and her husband Philip of North Attleboro. Cherished grandmother, "Nanner," of Gregory, Deidre, John, Paul, Sean, Colleen, Shannon, Jacqueline, David, Nicholas, Kenneth, Danielle, Angela, Matthew, Julie, Alyson, Stephen, and Hannah, and 9 great-grandchildren. Loving daughter of the late John and Hanna (O'Mahoney) Souza. Dear sister of the late John Souza, Richard Souza, Margaret Hamel, and Dorothy Condon. Dear sister-in-law of Eileen Souza of Dorchester and Carmen D. Hale of Wilmington,
