John Vernon Baker Jr. of West Bridgewater, formerly of Brockton, passed away on March 29, 2024, following a brief illness. He was 67 years old.
John was born in Boston, MA to Ellen and John “Vern” Baker, and raised in Norwood. He graduated from Norwood High School and St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. He worked in the restaurant and construction industries for many years.
John was a devoted Boston sports fan and enthusiastically followed the Boston Red Sox, the New England Patriots, and the Boston Bruins. He loved spending summer vacations with his wife and sons in Kennebunkport Beach, Maine and Weirs Beach, New Hampshire. John also enjoyed traveling with his brothers, “The Fabulous Baker Boys,” to attend baseball games at stadiums across the United States. He was also dedicated to staying connected with family and friends.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Jennifer (Barry) Baker, son Brett and his wife Siobhan, son Cody, and son Tyler. He was also lovingly known as “Papa” to his three-year-old granddaughter, Bridie.
John leaves behind his mother, Ellen Baker, of Norwood, and five younger brothers and their wives: Joseph and Keri; Martin and Dorothy; Timothy and Kimberly; Thomas and Marianne; and Daniel and Jamie. He is also survived by many in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, from 4-7 p.m. at the Kraw-Kornack Funeral Home, 1248 Washington St., Norwood, MA. His funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at St. Catherine’s of Siena Church, 547 Washington St., Norwood, MA. Burial will be private and held at a later date.
