John "Jack" J. Goggin

GOGGIN, JOHN "Jack" of Walpole formerly of Norwood and Charlestown passed away on January 18, 2024 at the age of 89. Beloved husband of Geraldine (Hughes) Goggin. Adored father of John Goggin and his wife Karen of Naples, FL; Jeanne Walsh and her husband Michael of Norwood; William Goggin and his wife Florence of Walpole; and Jill Buckman and her husband Scott of Norwood. Proud Grandfather of Amanda and Max Goggin; Shannon and Brendan Walsh; Lauren and Daniel Goggin; and Grace and Ava Buckman: and Great Grandfather to Saylor Stuart. Predeceased by his siblings Maurice (Ann) Goggin, Helen (James) Willard, Theresa (John) Burke, William (Celeste) Goggin, Catherine (Walter) Sullivan and Thomas Goggin. Son of the late John and Harriet (Tennihan) Goggin. Also, survived by many nieces, nephews, family, friends, and colleagues. Jack proudly embraced his "Townie" roots and was a member of the Charlestown School Boys Association. He graduated from Cathedral High School in 1952. Attended Northeastern University on a football scholarship; and graduated from Framingham State College. He was a US Army Korean War Veteran serving from 1954-1956. After serving his country honorably, he worked 35 year's at Boston Edison and retired as a district manager in public relations in 1995. Beyond his professional pursuits, he was an avid golfer, enjoying the camaraderie of the sport as a member of the Royal Crest 100 Club. Additionally, he shared his professional knowledge as an instructor at Newbury & Framingham colleges. Additionally, he coached youth hockey for the Norwood Nuggets. Jack, a communicant at St. Mary's Church, found solace and community in his faith. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 from 3-7pm at the Kraw-Kornack Funeral Home, 1248 Washington St. Norwood, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 25,2024, 10:30am at St. Mary's Church, 176 Washington St., East Walpole, MA. Burial will be private at the MA National Cemetery in Bourne.
