John P. Russo of Walpole, formerly of Jamaica Plain passed away on March 26, 2025. He was 97 years old.
John was a proud US Army veteran of WWII and Korea. He was a graduate of Wentworth Institute and worked for many years at Bell Laboratories. He was a large part of ground-breaking communications research and development at Bell and enjoyed a very successful career. John loved yachting and enjoyed spending time on his boat at Charles River Yacht Club. He sold marine equipment and two-way radios for many years, and he enjoyed fishing and photography. John could fix anything for anyone, and was often called upon by family, friends and neighbors for assistance.
John loved a good laugh and loved to dance. He was a member of the Norwood Italian Lodge and the VFW Post 2452. Above all else, John was happiest surrounded by his large loving family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
John was the dear and devoted husband of the late Mary (Favaloro) Russo of 62 years. Devoted father of Antoinette M. Eosco and her husband Steven of Norwood, John R. Russo and his wife Cheryl of NH, Mary J. Russo and her husband Randy Ziemienski of FL, Thomas G. Russo and his wife Tracey of NH, Robert R. Russo of RI, Richard M. Russo and his wife Lisa of Leominster and the late Joseph A. Russo and Joanne M. Russo. Cherished grandfather, "Papa," and "Grampa," of 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews.
John's Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday April 1, 2025 at 10 a.m. at St. Timothy's Church 650 Nichols St. in Norwood. Visitation in the Church beginning at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.

John will be laid to rest with his beloved Mary at St. Michael Cemetery in Roslindale
