CARCHEDI, Joseph L. Sr. Age 93, passed away on December 13, 2017. Beloved husband of Mary E. (Michienzi) Carchedi. Married 69 years. Lifelong resident of Norwood, MA. Loving father of Joseph L. Jr. and his wife Gail of Foxboro, Paul G. and his wife Julie of Mansfield, and Diane L. Butts and her husband William of Norwood. Loving and cherished grandfather of six; Nicole and Lauren of Norwood, David and Linnea of Mansfield, Andrew and Ayla of Foxboro. Born on February 13, 1924. Son of the late Francesco and Laura (Carchedi) Carchedi. He attended the Norwood schools and graduated from Norwood High School class of 1941. Mr. Carchedi worked for Holliston Mills and Bird & Sons for 15 years, and Polaroid Corporation for 26 years. Joe was a baseball player for Norwood High School, South Norwood and Bird & Sons baseball teams. He also played in the Boston Park League and on the first Norwood American Legion baseball team in 1941 managed by Marty Callaghan. He played softball for Norwood Knights of Columbus. Joe was an active parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena Church. Brother of Francis X. of Norwood, Lucille Rzucidlo of Islington, and the late Barbara A., Peter E. and Dominic Carchedi. Survived by many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the visiting hours on Monday, December 18th from 4-8 PM at the Kraw-Kornack Funeral Home, 1248 Washington Street, Norwood, MA. Funeral from Kraw-Kornack Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 19th at 10:00 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 547 Washington Street, Norwood, MA. Interment with military honors will be in Highland Cemetery in Norwood. U.S. Army veteran, World War II. American Legion member for over 60 years. Knights of Columbus member for over 55 years.
