Joseph “Joey” T. Lyons, Jr. age 84, of Danbury died Tuesday, June 11, 2024.
He was the husband of the late Elaine (Simmons) Lyons.
Mr. Lyons was born July 19, 1939 in Boston, MA. Son of the late Joseph T. Lyons, Sr. and the late Emily (Keenan) Lyons. He was retired after working for many years as the Vice President of Sales at Music Sales Corporation. A man of many talents, Joey Lyons was first and foremost, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He loved his family more than life itself and supported his children and grandchildren in all their activities throughout the years, always making them feel special. Married to the love of his life, Elaine, for 60 years, he cared for her during her illness until her final days in July, 2023. Joey was also a former professional dancer, a salesman, a coach, an artist, and an incredible storyteller to name a few. He never met a stranger with whom he didn't engage and leave a lasting impression.
A resident of Danbury since 1971, he served the PAL soccer community for many years as a coach and commissioner of the league, and brought his teams to many tournament successes. His legacy will continue to live on with his family and in every life he touched.
Mr. Lyons is survived by his children: Michele Alison Lyons and her fiancé, Robert Riley of New Milford, Stephanie Lyons – Keeley and her husband Wayne of Danbury and Robert A. Lyons and his fiancé, Brenda Mak of San Jose, CA, his sister: Patricia Ann Lyons of Dorchester, MA, his grandchildren Jessica Carter and her husband Ryan, Amanda Lyons, Jacob Anderson, Samuel Anderson and his fiancée Brook, Joshua Acuff, Jonah Acuff, Kylie Keeley, Chayce Schultz, Aidan Schultz, and Brady Schultz, his great granddaughter: Keilana Elaine Carter and his step grandchildren: Dylan Keeley and Sarah Keeley. He was predeceased by his step grandson: Wyatt Keeley.
Mr. Lyons’ family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, July 1, 2024 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, CT.
Graveside committal services and burial will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at 12:45 p.m. at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham St. Sharon, MA.
The Kraw-Kornack Funeral Home, 1248 Washington Street, Norwood, is assisting the family with local arrangements.
