CARCHEDI, JOSEPH P. 97, passed away On Sunday June 11, 2017. Joseph, a lifelong resident of Norwood, MA was born on October 19, 1919, the son of the late Foca A. and Teresa (Gemelli) Carchedi. He is survived by the love of his life, his devoted wife of 75 years, Mary (Michienzi) Carchedi, his son Robert and daughter-in-law Susan of Upton, his daughter Dianne Carchedi of Abington, granddaughters Kristen Mercure and husband Michael, Aimee Allen and husband Patrick, Danielle Boland and husband Matthew and Bethany Marie Carchedi and husband Paul Henning. He is also survived by great grandchildren Lily, Macie, Hunter, Alexa and Felicity, his brother Peter J. Carchedi and sister in-law Joan of Norwood and sister Rosetta (Anello) Gofreed of Florida as well as several nieces and nephews. Joseph was predeceased by brothers Foca (Junior) and Donald, sister Laura (Gunter) and sisters Veronica (Anello) Lehman, Beatrice (Anello) Sennett and brother Francis Anello. Joseph served during WWII in the National Guard and the Army Air Corps with the 34th Technical Squadron at Scott Field Illinois from 1941 to 1945. Both before and after his service he worked for the railroad for sixteen years before taking a job with the former Bird Machine Company in Walpole. In his youth he loved riding his Harley-Davidson and with a broad smile would recount stories of those days. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman and took up golf which he played often with his wife but his greatest joy was as a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Funeral from the Kraw-Kornack Funeral Home 1248 Washington St. Norwood, Friday June 16, 2017 at 8am followed by a funeral mass at 9am in St Catherine of Siena Church  547 Washington Street Norwood. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday June 15 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.  Interment will follow at the Highland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St Jude's Children's Hospital 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
