TAYLOR, KELSEY Elizabeth a lifelong resident of Norwood passed away on May 6, 2021, at the age of 27, after courageously fighting sickle cell disease all her life and leukemia for the past year. Beloved daughter of Laura A. (Greene) Taylor of Norwood and Derek P. Taylor of Roslindale. Loving sister of Marisa N. Taylor of Roslindale. Precious granddaughter of Jacqueline (Taylor) James of Malden. Cherished niece of Renee Greene of Roxbury, Cynthia Greene of Norwood, Lewis Greene, Jr. of Roxbury, Michael Greene of Taunton, Wayne Marshall of Peabody, Albert Taylor of Malden, Justina Clayton of Medford, David Clayton, Sr. of Medford, James Taylor of Lynnfield, Ernest Taylor of Lynn, Dwight Taylor of Malden, Irene (Taylor) Nash of Boston, Lawrence Taylor of Boston and many other aunts, uncles and cousins. Kelsey was a sickle cell warrior all her life, engaging in many activities to bring awareness to this life threatening illness. She was a youth ambassador for the Greater Boston Sickle Cell Disease Association, worked with Pfizer on several patient-family initiatives including a Boston Globe series, called "Dear Scientist" and a social media campaign, called "A Lens on Life." Kelsey fought hard to bring awareness to this debilitating disease and advocate for better treatment, and services for patients and their families. In an effort to be cured and to help advance medical
treatment for patients with sickle cell disease, Kelsey volunteered to participate in an experimental transplant protocol that caused her to develop leukemia, which she fought so bravely until her death.
Prior to her death Kelsey attended The College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts for two years and then transferred to Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts earning a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Film and New Media Studies in February 2020. Kelsey was extremely excited about starting her career and continuing her advocacy work before receiving her devastating diagnosis of leukemia.
