WHITCHER, LOUISE W. (Wainwright) of Norwood passed away peacefully on May 24, 2023 at the age of 76. Beloved wife of the late Donald S. Whitcher. Devoted mother of Amy L. Farrell of Weymouth, Michael W. Whitcher and his wife Elizabeth of Medfield, and Katelyn E. Whitcher of Norwood. Sister of Robert Wainwright and his wife Mary of Middleton, Joanne Wainwright of Hanover, and her late twin sister Elizabeth Wainwright Mulvey. Cherished grandmother of Madeline E. Farrell, Molly L. Farrell, Leah E. Whitcher, and Benjamin M. Whitcher. Daughter of the late William and Caroline (Lysholm) Wainwright. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Louise began her career with the MBTA in the 1970s after graduating from Boston Business School. She embraced motherhood once married, raising three children she was very proud of. Louise returned to work in the 1990s, taking positions with the Town of Norwood, first with the Planning Board and then the DPW until her retirement in 2009.
Louise was proud and strong. Making others feel loved and special was one of her greatest gifts. Louise played many roles in life and aced them all: mother, wife, sister, aunt, cousin, dog mom, friend. She took her role as Nana especially seriously, always sure to spoil her grandchildren at every chance. In return, Louise was loved by all who knew her, particularly her kindred 'bowling league ladies.' To look at the bright side of life and have some F-U-N was Lou's motto! Even in her darkest hours, she took the time to make phone calls, send birthday cards, and post her winning Wordle on Facebook.
Love, not cancer, defined our last months together.
