Gallucci and survived by daughter Janet Abbott and her husband Kevin of Bellingham; son George III of Palm Springs, California; daughter Donna Chisholm and her husband John of Norfolk; son Paul, of Sammamish, Washington; and daughter Michele Hlavaty and her husband John of Harwich. Sister to Dorothy Ochs of Norwood. Predeceased by her parents Thomas Prendergast and his wife Margaret (Keeney) as well as sister Mary Powers and brothers Thomas, Gerard and John Prendergast. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Margaret grew up on Dell Avenue in Roxbury and graduated from Mission High School in1947 with a background in typing and shorthand. She worked at Boston City Hospital from 1947-1955, taking dictation from the Chief of Radiology and staff doctors and transcribing x-ray reports. In 1950 she completed a medical secretary course at Harvard University Extension.
She married George Gallucci, Junior in 1955 and they had five children, living at different times in West Roxbury, Roslindale and ultimately Norwood. In 1972 she began working for Dr. Anthony Sahyoun, M.D., Associate Chief of Surgery at Faulkner Hospital in Jamaica Plain, where she planned and coordinated office systems, handled billing, correspondence and appointments, arranged meetings and booked all surgical procedures. Beginning in 1984, she was employed by Eye Care Specialists, P.C., where she prepared patient charts, set appointments and took care of all billing.
Margaret was extremely religious and spent countless hours watching daily mass, the rosary, and the chaplet. She was always praying for those in need, and her devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary was unwavering. She was also involved in a weekly prayer group, where she would bring her famous brownies, much to everyone’s delight. She wasn't Mother Teresa, but she sure came close. Peggy was known for her loving spirit, wide smile, distinct laughter and wonderful sense of humor. We can’t imagine life without her but find comfort knowing she is at peace with our heavenly father.
