KELLY, MARIANNE Deborah (Thompson) of Norwood passed away on December 10, 2024 at the age of 81. Beloved and cherished wife of 58 years to Gerard M. Kelly. Devoted mother of Brian G. Kelly and his wife Andrea of Lisbon, CT, Kerry A. Melavin and her husband John of Marshfield and Jeffrey T. Kelly and his wife Kathrine of Taunton.
Daughter of the late Arthur and Mary (MacDonald) Thompson. Big sister of Frances “Tammy” DeSimone and her husband Bill of Melrose, Douglas Thompson of Norwood and the late John Thompson.
Marianne had many nicknames – The Queen, Queenie, Mum, Ma, N$, Captain Mac but none she loved more than Mom & Nana. She was the deeply adored Nana of, Kathleen (Katie), Patrick, Ella, Connor and the late Joseph (Joe). She found pure joy in spending time with them, whether playing card games – 99 and UNO being the favorites, attending sports games (though she didn’t love the rugby ones) baking or her FaceTime calls (with the phone pointed towards the ceiling sometimes), they all brightened her day. Her love and warmth (and frank opinions) will be cherished and missed forever.
Also survived by many nieces and nephews and treasured grandnieces Reagan and Peyton who brought her so much joy.
Marianne had a wide circle of friends, many of whom she had known for over 50 years, and who she could spend hours talking to each day. She enjoyed taking road trips, a good slot machine, devouring a great book in a single seating and was a prolific card sender – often, your card arrived before your birthday or anniversary. She loved sports - more KC Chiefs since Brady abandoned the Patriots and was all in on Taylor and Travis. The list goes on and on. She will be incredibly missed by all.
The family will hold visiting hours on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, from 4-7pm at the Kraw-Kornack Funeral Home 1248 Washington St. Norwood, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at 11am at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Norwood. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery, Norwood, MA.
