Marie F. (Powers) Dooley

Marie F. (Powers) Dooley of Norwood passed away on March 25, 2025. She was 89 years old.

Born in Somerville, Marie was a graduate of St. Clement's High School and the Somerville School of Nursing. She worked for many years as an RN in several local hospitals including Somerville Hospital, Boston Medical Center and Norwood Hospital. After retirement from Norwood Hospital, and 30 years as a dedicated nurse, Marie went back to work as a Visiting Nurse for 10 years caring for home bound clients in Norfolk County.

Marie loved to travel. She vacationed in New Hampshire, Martha's Vineyard, and Florida, and visited Ireland and Medjugorje, as well as other international destinations. She was incredibly spontaneous and was known to go for pizza in Vermont and for taking her grandkids on adventures to get ice cream. Her sister Nancy was very often her sidekick in her spontaneous travels. Above all else, Marie was happiest surrounded by her loving family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Marie was the dear and devoted wife of the late Eugene F. Dooley. Loving mother of Colleen Marie Brierley and her husband Robert of Foxboro, Thomas Dooley and his wife Teresa of Norwood, Kathleen Quinn and her husband Brian of Norwood and the late Eugene Dooley Jr., Patricia Fucci, and Michael Dooley. Cherished grandmother, "Nana," of Caitlin Marie and her husband Daniel Harrington, Michael Brierley and his fiancée Jessica Porter, Elisabeth, Kevin, Patrick, Michael, Thomas, Christopher, Meghan Marie, Sean, Brian and Sean. Great-grandmother of Rose, Cecelia Marie, Colin, Maya June and soon to be born great grandson “Baby A”. Beloved daughter of the late Patrick and Margaret (Ronaine) Powers. Dear sister of the late Nancy Steed and Thomas Powers. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Marie's Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in East Walpole. Visiting hours will be held Friday, March 28, 2025, from 5-8 p.m. at the Kraw-Kornack Funeral Home 1248 Washington St. in Norwood. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
