Mary A. Fanning, age 72, of Mansfield, passed away unexpectedly at home on Thursday, July 31, 2025. She was the devoted wife to Joseph J. Fanning for almost forty-three years, the loving mother of Jeremy Weider, Laura Fanning, and Colleen Lettieri, the cherished mother-in-law of John Lettieri and Crystal Jodoin, and the beloved grandmother of Ian Weider, Hailey Lettieri, Lainey Lettieri, and Karmyn Gonzalez.
Born and raised in Norwood, she was the daughter of the late James and Jennie Keady.
Mary had a passion for numbers and calculations and was the Cash Office Manager at Walpole Walmart for over a decade with many years of prior Account Management at State Street Bank in Quincy.
Mary was a woman that liked her quiet time- a genuine homebody that loved her cats, Sidney and Merlin, sipping coffee and relishing in her True Crime dramas. However, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and children more than anything. She was affectionately known as “Ma” or “G-Ma” to her family. She had a passion for cooking and loved to feed her “Wayward Children”- whether that was with her famous meatballs, her simple homemade mac and cheese or her delicious homemade pizza. Mary would insist you eat seconds, and thirds until the food she had made for an army was gone. Holidays were spent gathered together and if you were lucky enough, Mary would make her heavenly cheesecake for you. If you had the pleasure of coming into her home, you forever had a seat at Mary’s kitchen table, and she was always ready to lend an ear and tell you she loved you.
In addition to the immediate family, Mary leaves behind her brother, James M. Keady Jr and his wife Cynthia Keady of Norwood, along with their children, Sean Keady, Michael Keady and her god daughter Shannon O’Rourke; her sister-in-law Kathleen O’Connor and her brother-in-law Michael O’Connor of Millbury.
A celebration of Mary’s life will be held at the Norwood Elks Lodge. No. 1124, 152 Winslow Ave, Norwood, MA, on Sunday, August 24, 2025, from 2pm-6pm.
