Matthew Paul Gately

Matthew Paul Gately, 36, of Norwood formerly of Canton died unexpectedly February 14. Born in Boston, August 27,1985, the son of Paul J. and Mary Lou (Fahey) Gately of Canton, Matthew was a longtime Canton resident. Matthew was a graduate of Catholic Memorial High School and attended Stonehill College. He was a graduate of the Massachusetts Fire Academy and was a licensed Paramedic.Matthew was employed at Brewster Ambulance Service in Norwood and had previously worked as an EMS in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Matt was a dedicated member of CrossFit Florian Gym of Norwood and loved biking, kayaking and running in various road races, his favorite being the Falmouth Road Race. One of Matt's fondest memories and vacation was a trip to Ireland with his family to meet the Gately cousins and visit the home of his grandparents and the many cousins still residing there. He enjoyed family gatherings and spending time with his niece and nephew. In addition to his parents Matt is survived by his sister Deirdre and uncle to Joseph and Alexandra Apolito of Harwich. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.Services and internment will be private.
