Born on July 31, 1937, in Norwood, Gail was one of two daughters born to the late Clement and Marie (Googan) Riley. She grew up in Norwood and was a proud graduate of Norwood High School's Class of 1955.
A hardworking woman with a kind heart, Gail pursued a career as a Licensed Practical Nurse, where her compassionate nature and dedication to helping others shone brightly.
Gail was known for her beautiful singing voice and was a professional singer for many years. She performed in many of Boston’s night clubs, including Blinstrub’s where she opened shows for many of the biggest stars of that generation. Gail continued singing through the years and for many summers frequently performed at Norwood’s Concerts on the Common. Gail had a passion for travel and enjoyed going on cruises, where she could often be found wearing her beloved sparkling clothing. Her love for cats was well-known, and she cherished the companionship they provided.
Gail is survived by her beloved sister, Barbara Hooper of Norwood; her dear cousins, John “Bucka” Fanning and his wife Dotty of Norwood, Leslie Morrissey of Bourne, and Joyce West of Norwood. Gail was the longtime companion of the late Frank Stornanti of Walpole. She also leaves behind her close friend, Howard Hanson of Canton, and her lifelong friend, Joanne Folan of Norwood, as well as many extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in passing by her brother-in-law, Douglas A. Hooper, and her nephew, Douglas R. Hooper, both of whom she held close in her heart.
Gail’s graveside services and interment will be held on WEDNESDAY, October 29, 2025 beginning at 11:30a.m. in the Highland Cemetery, 320 Winter Street, Norwood
